Come learn all about South Carolina’s Snakes from guest speaker Andrew Grosse!
Snakes are often hated or feared. But there are some great reasons to keep these slithering creatures around your home and garden. Did you know that snakes are an important part of our Island’s ecology? They provide an important service by keeping rodents and other pest populations under control.
In South Carolina there are 38 snake species and only six of them are venomous. The venomous species tend to be secretive and are less frequently encountered. Join us for Conservation Matters this September to learn more about snakes and their important role in the Lowcountry from Andrew Grosse. Andrew Grosse is the State Herpetologist for South Carolina and holds a BS in Wildlife and Forestry and a MS in Wildlife Biology, both from the University of Georgia.
