Join the Kiawah Conservancy for a week-long celebration of our natural world with events happening throughout the week. Here is the schedule of events:
Monday, October 16: A WALK IN THE GARDEN
10-11 am – Naturally Kiawah Demonstration Garden, Night Heron Park
Registration required, free to attend.
Join the Kiawah Conservancy and help kick off Native Plant Week by taking a walk in the Naturally Kiawah Demonstration Garden in Night Heron Park. On this tour of the garden, Sean Cannon, the Kiawah Conservancy’s Restoration and Enhancement Specialist, will share insightful information about native plants that grow well on Kiawah. Sean will also be joined by Karen Madoff who is a Kiawah resident, Master Gardener, Naturalist, and Master Rain Gardener. Their knowledge and expertise will be sure to inspire you to restore nature in your own landscape!
Wednesday, October 18: WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP
2-5 pm – The Beach Club (225 Ocean Marsh Road)
Registration required, $20 non-refundable registration fee.
Join returning artist and illustrator, Abby Nurre, for a Watercolor Workshop (for all levels) to paint treasures of the beach. Participants will have the opportunity to focus on coastal treasure finds, including any shells and corals that have been washed ashore by the tide. We encourage children (ages 10 and up) and adults to join. Materials will be provided.
Thursday, October 19: DESIGNING IN NATURE WITH MARY REYNOLDS
11-2:30 pm – West Beach Conference Center (2 Shipwatch Road)
Registration required, $30 non-refundable registration fee.
The event will begin with an opportunity to ask questions and meet with local landscape designers, professionals, and native plant experts at our Vendor Showcase. Next, we’ll learn about the Kiawah Conservancy’s current efforts and future plans to plant native, followed by a gourmet lunch and live Zoom presentation with Mary Reynolds. As part of your registration process, you have the option to pre-submit a question to be addressed during the Q&A segment of the presentation.
Don’t miss your opportunity to pre-purchase special native plant packages at wholesale pricing during this event. Each package will be based on templates created by Surculus Designs, featuring native plant species chosen specifically for Kiawah and Seabrook Island. Friday, November 3: NATIVE PLANT SALE
3-5 pm – Freshfields Village
No registration required, free and open to the public.
Join the Kiawah Conservancy and Seabrook Green Space Conservancy at Freshfields Village on the green for a Native Plant Sale. Enjoy refreshments and live music as you chat with local experts about natives to plant in your yards.
