Planting Rain Gardens In Local Schools

This month, we worked with the third-grade classes of Charleston Collegiate Day School to plant three rain gardens on school grounds!

The students researched native plants and wrote letters to our staff about which plants they would like to see in their gardens. They also presented posters on rain gardens to parents and their school to spread awareness about the project and to recruit volunteers.

The rain garden planting event had a great turnout of students and parents and was a complete success. The Kiawah Conservancy is thrilled to have had the chance to spread the importance of rain gardens on Johns Island and in local schools!
